Jaipur rocked by earthquake
An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 struck Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, on Friday morning. The earthquake occurred at 4:09 am and was centered about 9 kilometers from the city center. It was followed by an aftershock of magnitude 3.1 at 4:22 am.
The earthquake was felt across the city and in surrounding areas. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, but people were shaken by the tremors.
Murari Lal Meena, the minister for tourism and civil aviation in Rajasthan, tweeted that he hoped everyone was safe. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also tweeted that she hoped everyone was safe and that there was no damage.
Earthquake tremors felt in Jaipur
The National Center for Seismology said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. It is not uncommon for earthquakes to occur in Rajasthan, as the state is located in a seismically active region.
The earthquake is a reminder of the importance of being prepared for natural disasters. People should have an emergency plan in place and know what to do in the event of an earthquake.
