West Indies skipper Kraigg Braithwaite has stressed on the importance of consistency for his side in the upcoming two-match Test series against India.
The first Test of the series will be played at Windsor Park in Dominica, starting on July 12. It will be the first match for both teams in the new ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025.
Roach’s Experience Key to West Indies’ Chances Against India, Says Brathwaite

Brathwaite, who has 85 Test caps to his name, said that the Windies need to be consistent from the first ball to the last in order to topple the visitors.
“We look forward to the challenge. I think we also look forward to the support of the Dominican public. And we had number of discussions on how we want to go about playing and the key is consistency. We want to be consistent and that is from the first innings right through the whole Test match into the second Test, and for us we look forward to doing that,” said Brathwaite.
The West Indies skipper pointed to the experience of Kemar Roach as one of the keys to unlocking India in the upcoming series. Roach is the spearhead of the Windies attack and has taken 68 wickets from 22 Tests against India at an average of 28.
“It is great to have Kemar around, especially with his experience in the dressing room. On the field, he always lends that advice and helping hand to the fast bowlers as well – even spinners at times. So it is great to have him. He’s a legend of West Indies cricket and I look forward to many more years of Kemar doing well for West Indies,” said Brathwaite.
The India squad for the Test series is led by Rohit Sharma and features a number of experienced players, including Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The tourists will be looking to start their campaign in the new World Test Championship with a win.
The first Test between India and West Indies will start on July 12 at Windsor Park in Dominica.
