Hockey India Reveals 39-Member Core Probable Group for Men’s National Coaching Camp

In an announcement made by Hockey India on Sunday, a core probable group of 39 players has been unveiled for the upcoming Senior Men’s National Coaching camp. The camp is scheduled to take place from June 26th to July 19th, 2023, at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. This intensive training camp aims to prepare the players for the challenging competitions ahead.

Following the conclusion of the camp, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team will embark on a trip to Terrassa, Spain. There, they will participate in the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation – International Tournament from July 25th to July 30th, 2023. The tournament will see the team facing tough opponents like England, Spain, and the Netherlands. Subsequently, the team will shift their focus to the prestigious Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023, which commences on August 3rd, 2023.

The core probable group comprises a mix of talented individuals in different positions. In the goalkeeping department, Krishan Bahadur Pathak, PR Sreejesh, Suraj Karkera, Pawan Malik, and Prashant Kumar Chauhan have been included. The defense is bolstered by players like Harmanpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Gurinder Singh, Jugraj Singh, Mandeep Mor, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Sanjay, Yashdeep Siwach, Dipsan Tirkey, and Manjeet.

The midfield lineup consists of Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Sumit, Akashdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, and Mohd. Raheel Mouseen. The forward positions will be manned by S. Karthi, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra, and Pawan Rajbhar.

Expressing his thoughts on the upcoming coaching camp, Indian Men’s Hockey Team Chief Coach Craig Fulton emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency and improving certain aspects of their game. He acknowledged the significant tournaments lined up in the near future, including the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 and the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Fulton highlighted the camp as a crucial starting point for their preparations and an opportunity to showcase the brand of hockey they aspire to play.

The unveiling of the 39-member core probable group sets the stage for an intense training camp where players will hone their skills, foster teamwork, and elevate their performance levels. With the guidance of the coaching staff, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team aims to build a formidable squad ready to compete against formidable opponents and bring glory to the nation in the upcoming tournaments.
