During a phone conversation with his counterpart, Manik Saha, Patnaik conveyed his heartfelt sympathy and assured him that the people of Odisha stand firmly by the people of Tripura during this distressing time.

The unfortunate incident occurred during the ‘Ulta Rath Yatra,’ a festival where a ceremonial chariot of Lord Jagannath was being pulled by thousands of devotees. Tragically, the chariot came into contact with a high-tension wire, resulting in a devastating accident. As a result, seven individuals lost their lives, while sixteen others sustained injuries.

Patnaik not only expressed his condolences to the grieving families but also conveyed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured. He further pledged the full support of the Odisha government to Tripura in dealing with the aftermath of the incident. As a demonstration of his commitment, Patnaik dispatched DK Routray, the director of Odisha Mo Parivar, to Tripura to provide assistance and support to the affected individuals and their families.

The incident, which took place in Uttar Pabiacherra, Kumarghat, occurred when the adorned iron chariot made contact with a 133kv overhead cable. The collision led to an immediate outbreak of fire on parts of the chariot, and unfortunate individuals fell to the ground, engulfed in flames. Six individuals lost their lives instantaneously due to electrocution, while one succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.

This tragic event has left the entire region in a state of shock and mourning. However, the solidarity displayed by Naveen Patnaik and the people of Odisha offers a ray of hope and support to the affected community in Tripura. It is a testament to the resilience and unity among states in times of crisis, as efforts are made to provide solace, aid, and assistance to those in need.
